White Lines and Whiskey

Story Behind The Song

Once again this a song I started that Producer and Co-Writer Mark Riddick grabbed and took off with. I wrote the title, the first verse and after that I only contributed or changed a few words here and there. My original could have been a small book along the lines of Desolation Row. Just kidding, but Kudos to Mark for taking it all to my Mile Marker 4 destination. This time it's Mystery Vocalist aka Ron Wahls who does the honors with Wes Little on the great drum part and Jon Conley with more fantastic guitar work.

Lyrics

Driving my load down 95
Park my rig just South of the Border
Heading to the bar called Mile Marker Four
After I drop off this last order

I'm living my high life
And you know it ain't no joke
It's all White Lines & Whiskey
Step on the gas take another toke
Living on fast food orders

Every night is a repeat
White lines and whiskey
But I can't Party again
Until I hit mile marker four
Every night is a repeat
You think I'd get bored
But I can Party again
After I get to mile marker four

Everybody told me you'll grow up
Settle down and take a wife
But I wanna stay in this
Mid life crisis maybe for the rest of my life

They said I'd grow up but that got old
I never was good at listening
I just keep shiftin gears
They watch my taillights in the distance
Cause

CHORUS

Now I must admit there's been a lady or two
Who gave me pause
But at the end of the night with my cherry coke
Look in the mirror take another toke... cause

"White Lines and Whiskey" is perhaps the best song that Jimmy Buffett never wrote. This is a fun song with blue-collar appeal talking about carefree living and partying, while still doing his 9-to-5 gig. Top-notch performances and production. I could hear this one on the radio for sure. Nice job.
